Schools

PEDEC aims to help schools explore the links between our lives and those of people throughout the world. This leads on to developing skills, attitudes and values to enable people to work together towards a more just and sustainable world for all.

PEDEC offers:

  • A Resources Loan Service of teacher’s packs, videos, music packs, artefacts and books relating to global citizenship and sustainable development issues.
  • A newsletter to Primary and Secondary schools – PEDEC POST.
  • A programme of Workshops, delivered by qualified teachers, designed to bring the wider world into the classroom.  We are currently offering one half day workshop - a Fair Shares one for schools in South Powys who are thinking of working towards obtaining the Fairtrade status (see under Fairtrade).

Resource Loan Service

We regret to announce that we can no longer offer a free resource loan service. The service that we have run since 1989 was funded by Christian Aid for many years and last year by the Laura Ashley Foundation but we have been unable to find any other source of funding so we will have to charge for this service in future.  Up to four teaching packs can be ordered for a £5 fee and delivered to schools in Powys via the internal mailing system.  Larger items must be collected by prior arrangement from the PEDEC office.

Items  can be requested by phoning the PEDEC office or emailing the order form on the Contact page.

Books and packs can be borrowed for a term, videos and music packs for half a term.

Global Education in a Box

global education in a boxGlobal Education in a Box is a practical model of treating ESDGC as a whole and aims to save teachers time in researching and selecting resources with which to develop a school programme to promote Global Citizenship.  Resources from a variety of publishers are provided, together with highlighted sample activities of 16 PSE lessons for KS3.  It is divided into four sections:  Interdependence, Looking after the Earth, Global Fairness and Celebrating Diversity.  The box is available to borrow via our Resource Loan Service.
