Fair Trade Towns Initiatives:

PEDEC is a founder member of the Powys Fair Trade Coalition and works at capacity building the Fair Trade Towns initiatives based in Powys.

Fair Trade Schools:

PEDEC supports schools in Powys to achieve Fairtrade status. Sue Richards is dealing with those in South Powys  and Diane Isenberg with those in North Powys. We have resources on Fair Trade suitable for all the Key Stages that schools may borrow through our Resource Loan Service. There is also an Action Pack that schools may send for.

The following schools have attained the Fairtrade status:

Schools Fly the Flag for Fairtrade

Fairtrade Flags have been launched in schools in Wales, to reward schools for their Fairtrade efforts. Schools who work with the

5 goals

and achieve Fairtrade status, will be given a flag, if they are based in Wales. The flags are courtesy of the The Cooperative Cymru\Wales and were launched in North Wales, South Wales, Mid Wales and West Wales, in the following schools Ysgol Bryn Alyn in Wrexham, Machynlleth Primary School in Powys, Parc Lewis Primary School in Pontypridd, Ysgol Dyffryn Taf, Carmarthenshire. All Schools who have gained the status will be receiving the flags over the coming months.
